It's time for Phantom Abyss to transition out of Early Access and into 1.0 later this month, on January 25. The past couple of years have been a great experience for us, and we are very grateful for all the love and support you have shown us during EA. We couldn't have reached this point without your invaluable feedback.
Phantom Abyss is played single-player, and the ‘ghosts’ represent previous player attempts and are not people currently playing the game. Phantom Abyss is not a Fall Guys-style game where everyone plays at the same time.
Once the legendary relic at the bottom of each temple is found, the temple goes away forever and becomes the priceless trophy of the skilled adventurer.
As it currently stands, there are already many thrills to be had in hunting for treasure while the temple’s perils hunt you, which makes for an exciting prospect for Phantom Abyss
One of the game’s highlights is how it cleverly bakes a sense of community into its design through the implementation of phantoms – ghosts of other players who came before you and were bested by the temple. Beyond merely providing a glimpse of where others died, these phantoms are both an assistance and a hindrance, as they activate the many proximity-based traps in each temple.

Phantom Abyss is an asymmetric-multiplayer, temple-based puzzle game in which players charge through trap dungeons in hopes of securing expensive items of great renown.
Completing each run in the game’s Adventure mode unlocks a new kind of whip for you to use. Each new whip grants a single buff Phantom Abyss Speedrun when equipped — one grants an extremely useful double jump, and another lets you drop coins you’ve collected in water to restore your health. There are loads of them, and once unlocked, can be used to augment any future runs you undertake. You can also spend coins collected in-level on temporary upgrades that will disappear after the run.
An ancient temple full of traps has a treasure at the very end, and you want it. Armed with your trusty whip, you'll race through the temple, avoiding dangerous pitfalls and angry temple guardians. Unfortunately, if you die, you'll never be able to try this particular iteration of the temple again.
